In recovery!

Dear leaders in recovery,

What does “recovery” mean for you?

Does it have to be negative or hard? Could you accept free and easy steps shown to create profound well-being and resiliency in recovery?

My recovery clients say they value the ease of showing up and receiving grace. They also enjoy playing in a language that operates and feels authentic for them. Recovery is that…for many.

That’s also what makes the STOP & FLOW process so positively impactful for us as leaders. Our teams need easier in their day.

Do you have an hour to explore this for you and your teams?

Come to Free Intro STOP & FLOW Stress Relief Workshop(s) together this May!

These 1-hour live Zoom sessions are activations, my gift to you.

This is perfect for recovery center professionals who want to feel supported in word and deed where “word and deed” actually do mean life and death.

The O stands for Observe

In an interesting for me Harvard Gazette article titled "Alcohol is Dangerous, So is ‘Alcoholic’, Dr. Wei Zhang of Mass General sheds light on the negative impact of stigmatizing language in treating addiction.

He tells a poignant story of a 36-year-old woman who, fearing judgment, did not disclose her drinking habits and was consequently denied a liver transplant, tragically leading to her death.

This story powerfully illustrates how the medical community has for years been striving towards making terms like 'alcohol use disorder' instead of 'alcoholic' to enhance transparency and improve treatment outcomes.

For me, in the recovery journey, the power of swapping words is a powerful tool. Words shape how we tell our story and profoundly shape our reality to thrive. I’m amazed at how my group clients can hear the both/and of all words after taking time to STOP & FLOW.

Many show up proudly proclaiming by name “I’m an alcoholic.” Is that good or bad? Not for me to say…and I see such strength in staying in observation without making meaning up.

The STOP & FLOW methodology encapsulates language and growth mindset in motion. Constructs get created and charged by what we say and what we think as we journey around.

That’s why we emphasize observing both good and bad, without judgment—highlighted by the 'Observe' step repeated in both halves of the 8-step acronym.

As we ‘Observe’ it encourages us to reflect on our current state and our aspirations, empowering us to redefine and describe our experiences in a way that supports our dignity and growth FOR OURSELVES!

Do you prefer to be at the effect of what others say or think? I do not and I for sure don’t want my client’s believing that they are either.

My clients have this to say about STOP & FLOW and what recovery is for them…

“Kristin, this acronym alone is like magic for me. I’m relieved just hearing the steps of STOP & FLOW.”

—Anonymous

“I arrived here feeling so anxious I could barely speak. I feel completely calm and can not remember ever feeling this connected to my body.”

—Anonymous

“I would highly recommend this program to all substance use disorder and mental health professionals and treatment centers.
