Power of Community: 3 Game-Changing Insights for Recovery Pros
Hello recovery pros,
Taking steps toward well-being are not black or white, right or wrong, this or that.
This week, our free Intro STOP & FLOW Workshop brought together a diverse group of recovery professionals from across New York State, in a colorful exchange of easy steps to choose from that can be taken in our world toward our mental health.
The infusion of vital energy left us feeling so hopeful and inspired for the work we do as professionals supporting others. The event was a resounding success, empowering attendees with invaluable tools to support their own mental well-being.
I’m so thankful and proud to have had this time with each of you and I look forward to continuing to find ways to be together.
This Week’s Connect to Calm Pro Tips & What Guests Say about STOP & FLOW:
Tip 1: Embrace Mindfulness as a Daily Practice by Slowing Down
Slow it down—like way down. 'Stop Where I Am' and 'Breathe and Be,' the first components of the STOP & FLOW acronym, are simple yet challenging. By taking time to truly experience what slowing down feels like and honoring moments to simply breathe and be, we enhance our ability to direct attention and cultivate mindfulness. Awareness and mindfulness aren't just buzzwords; they are transformative practices that build resilience through lived experience.
“Incorporating mindfulness into my daily routine was easy the way Kristin presented it. I'm motivated by the moves we made that slowed me so that I felt so I can actually manage my stress levels. I’m really excited to continue on to take the June professional STOP & FLOW training my agency is providing us."
- Sarah, Recovery Counselor
Tip 2: Foster an Environment of Open Communication
Mental health thrives in an atmosphere of trust and understanding. Our workshop emphasized the importance of creating a safe space where staff and clients alike can discuss what's working, in addition to their challenges, without fear of judgment or stigma.
"This workshop reminded me of the profound impact open communication and empowered action have on mental well-being. I can't believe how empowered I feel. I can see the shift in our workplace culture this could create. I'm thankful and eager to plan trainings for our staff."
- Michael, Program Director
Tip 3: Embrace Continuous Education and Growth as Community
The field of mental health is ever-evolving, and staying up-to-date with the latest research, techniques, and best practices is crucial for recovery professionals. Attendees learned ways we are sharing resources and opportunities in community to support one another and our clients growth. It may feel like we are alone. We are not. Many are taking steps together to improve wellbeing and stay in connection at all costs.
"As someone who has been in the field for over a decade, I was blown away by the wealth of hopeful techniques shared during this workshop. It reignited my passion and reminded me that there is always room for growth and collaboration. I can't wait to implement this for myself, and I'd love to become a facilitator so I can share this with my clients."
- Emily, Therapist
These are more than just buzz-words; these are examples of the charged conversations that recharge the worlds we live, work, and play in as a SUD community of resourceful parties!
I’m so thankful for the insights and strategies shared during our workshop. It’s proof we do have the power to transform lives starting with our own. Thank you for attending and for your interest in mental health ongoing.
If you missed this incredible event, don't worry – you can join us for our upcoming Level 1 training in June, where we'll delve even deeper into these topics and equip you with even more tools to foster mental well-being.
